Sold at the lower estimate price
The work An angel in flight (recto); Studies of hands and a man seen from behind (verso); and An angel leaning down with upraised arm by Antonio Balestra was sold in the Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolours auction at Christies in London in December 2011. The result of GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,796.46) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Antonio Balestra achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hercules and Omphale in January this year with an auction result of USD 126,000.00 (€ 116,043.47).
