Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Thomas Charles Bigge (C.1739-1794), of Benton House, Northumberland, Half-Length, In A Blue Coat With Gold Trim, Holding A Pair of Gloves In His Right Hand, Beside A Plinth by Anton von Maron was sold in the British Pictures 1500-1850 auction at Christies in London in June 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 21,600.00 (€ 31,254.84) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Anton von Maron have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Du Maréchal Jourda De Vaux Et De Sa Fille in April 2014 with an auction result of EUR 199,500.00.

Die Arbeit Portrait of Thomas Charles Bigge (C.1739-1794), of Benton House, Northumberland, Half-Length, In A Blue Coat With Gold Trim, Holding A Pair of Gloves In His Right Hand, Beside A Plinth von Anton von Maron wurde im Juni 2006 in der Auktion British Pictures 1500-1850 bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 21.600,00 (€ 31.254,84) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
