Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2006 Christies in London held the auction British Pictures 1500-1850, which included the work Portrait of Elizabeth Hervey (1733-1800), Wife of The 4Th Earl of Bristol, Three-Quarter-Length, Seated In A Salmon Pink Dress With Lilac Bowes, The Giant'S Causeway, Co. Antrim Beyond by Anton von Maron. The price achieved of GBP 60,000.00 (€ 86,819.00) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 50,000.00 – 80,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Anton von Maron - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Du Maréchal Jourda De Vaux Et De Sa Fille, which sold at auction in April 2014 for EUR 199,500.00.
