A top price for Anton Raphael Mengs
When the work Portrait of Friedrich Christian, Prince of Saxony (1722-1763), three-quarter-length, in armour, with an ermine lined mantle and the sash and star of the Order of the White Eagle by Anton Raphael Mengs was auctioned at Christies in London in July last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over.
