Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Anton Raphael Mengs achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2012. In the Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale auction, the work Portrait of Mariana de Silva y Sarmiento, duquesa de Huescar (1740-1784), half-length, in a white dress and fur-lined wrap, holding a ring and a key, a draped curtain beyond -- unfinished sold for GBP 39,650.00 (€ 50,503.44) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Anton Raphael Mengs achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Friedrich Christian, Prince of Saxony (1722-1763), three-quarter-length, in armour, with an ermine lined mantle and the sash and star of the Order of the White Eagle in July last year with an auction result of GBP 475,000.00 (€ 567,234.37).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Anton Raphael Mengs erzielte im Juli 2012 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Portrait of Mariana de Silva y Sarmiento, duquesa de Huescar (1740-1784), half-length, in a white dress and fur-lined wrap, holding a ring and a key, a draped curtain beyond -- unfinished für GBP 39.650,00 (€ 50.503,44) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 18.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Anton Raphael Mengs erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Friedrich Christian, Prince of Saxony (1722-1763), three-quarter-length, in armour, with an ermine lined mantle and the sash and star of the Order of the White Eagle im Juli letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 475.000,00 (€ 567.234,37).
