Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2011 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work Queen of Clippers of Brixham (illustrated); and Amy of Plymouth by Anton de Clerk. The price achieved of GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,143.50) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Anton de Clerk - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The British Topsail Schooner Coronella Passing A Lighthouse; And The Coronella At Sea By The West Hinder Lightship, which sold at auction in May 2006 for GBP 2,160.00 (€ 3,152.90).
