The work Orpheus playing his lyre by Antoine Coypel was sold in the Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours Including Works from the Collection of Jean Bonna auction at Christies in London in July 2019. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 21,250.00 (€ 23,331.09), 42% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Antoine Coypel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Allegory Of Music (A Portrait Of Mme. De Maintenon With The Natural Children Of Louis Xiv) in January 2015 with an auction result of USD 1,565,000.00 (€ 1,386,182.46).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 42 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Orpheus playing his lyre von Antoine Coypel wurde im Juli 2019 in der Auktion Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours Including Works from the Collection of Jean Bonna bei Christies in London versteigert. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Allegory Of Music (A Portrait Of Mme. De Maintenon With The Natural Children Of Louis Xiv) im Januar 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.565.000,00 (€ 1.386.182,46).
