Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2017 Sothebys in Paris held the auction Tableaux, Sculptures et Dessins Anciens et du XIXe siècle, which included the work Judgment Day by Antoine Caron. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 223,500.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Antoine Caron - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An Allegory of the Triumph of Summer, which sold at auction in May 2003 for USD 903,500.00 (€ 767,890.53).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2017 führte Sothebys in Paris die Auktion Tableaux, Sculptures et Dessins Anciens et du XIXe siècle durch, in der auch die Arbeit Judgment Day von Antoine Caron zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 223.500,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Antoine Caron mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit An Allegory of the Triumph of Summer beobachtet, die im Mai 2003 für USD 903.500,00 (€ 767.890,53) versteigert wurde.
