Auction result well in line with expectations
In September last year Christies in New York held the auction Centering the Figure: South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art from the Collection of Romi Lamba, which included the work Untitled (Face of a Boy) by Anjolie Ela Menon. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,300.00 (€ 6,439.74) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Anjolie Ela Menon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in March 2006 with an auction result of USD 144,000.00 (€ 118,625.92).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Centering the Figure: South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art from the Collection of Romi Lamba durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Face of a Boy) von Anjolie Ela Menon zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 6.300,00 (€ 6.439,74) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Anjolie Ela Menon erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im März 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 144.000,00 (€ 118.625,92).
