Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Andy Warhol achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in October 2017. In the Prints and Multiples auction, the work Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, from Reigning Queens (Royal Edition) sold for USD 25,000.00 (€ 21,462.91) - well above the upper estimate of USD 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andy Warhol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shot Sage Blue Marilyn in May last year with an auction result of USD 195,040,000.00 (€ 181,753,797.41).
