In May 2012 Sothebys in London held the auction The Gunter Sachs Collection Day Auction, which included the work Mao by Andy Warhol. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 30,000.00 (€ 37,378.68), 36% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andy Warhol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shot Sage Blue Marilyn in May last year with an auction result of USD 195,040,000.00 (€ 181,753,797.41).
