Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Mother and Child (Urban), 1990 by Andrew Sibley was auctioned at Bonhams in Sidney in June last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 500.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 246.00 (€ 234.98). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andrew Sibley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Musicians in Love - Mad Lovers Series in May 2001 with an auction result of AUD 25,850.00 (€ 15,494.71).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Mother and Child (Urban), 1990 von Andrew Sibley im Juni letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Sidney versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 500,00 – 800,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 246,00 (€ 234,98) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Andrew Sibley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Musicians in Love - Mad Lovers Series im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 25.850,00 (€ 15.494,71).
