Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work View across Vico Bay towards Bray Head, Co. Dublin, Ireland by Andrew Nicholl was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,467.81). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andrew Nicholl achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Poppies, cornflowers and daisies on Killiney Hill; Killiney Bay, Bray Head and the Sugar Loaf mountain in the distance in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 21,150.00 (€ 33,937.95).
