Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Holy Works: Pietà by Andres Serrano was sold in the Masters of PhotographyFrom Edward S. Curtis to Berenice Abbott auction at Bonhams in February this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 700.00 – 1,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 701.25 (€ 661.43) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andres Serrano achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Piss Christ in November 2011 with an auction result of USD 314,500.00 (€ 233,776.85).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Holy Works: Pietà von Andres Serrano wurde im Februar diesen Jahres in der Auktion Masters of PhotographyFrom Edward S. Curtis to Berenice Abbott bei Bonhams versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 700,00 – 1.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 701,25 (€ 661,43) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Andres Serrano erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Piss Christ im November 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 314.500,00 (€ 233.776,85).
