Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (Body Print) by Ana Mendieta was auctioned at Christies in New York in September this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 18,900.00 (€ 17,857.14). Admittedly, works by Ana Mendieta have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (From the Fetish Series) in February 2008 with an auction result of GBP 102,500.00 (€ 134,065.98).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled (Body Print) von Ana Mendieta im September diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 18.900,00 (€ 17.857,14) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ana Mendieta auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (From the Fetish Series) im Februar 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 102.500,00 (€ 134.065,98).
