Auction result well in line with expectations
The work El laberinto de la vida (The Labyrinth of Life) from the series Labyrinth of Venus by Ana Mendieta was sold in the 20th c. & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session auction at Phillips in New York in July 2020. The price achieved of USD 56,250.00 (€ 47,774.76) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ana Mendieta - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (From the Fetish Series), which sold at auction in February 2008 for GBP 102,500.00 (€ 134,065.98).

Die Arbeit El laberinto de la vida (The Labyrinth of Life) from the series Labyrinth of Venus von Ana Mendieta wurde im Juli 2020 in der Auktion 20th c. & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 56.250,00 (€ 47.774,76) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Ana Mendieta mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (From the Fetish Series) beobachtet, die im Februar 2008 für GBP 102.500,00 (€ 134.065,98) versteigert wurde.
