Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2008 Christies in London held the auction Important Old Master & British PicturesEvening Sale, which included the work Peaches, grapes, a pear, and white currants in a wan-li kraak porcelain dish, with shells, a lizard and a butterfly on a ledge by Ambrosius Bosschaert the Younger. The price achieved of GBP 121,250.00 (€ 154,049.49) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ambrosius Bosschaert the Younger - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Früchtestilleben mit Muscheln und Insekten., which sold at auction in September 2007 for CHF 721,500.00 (€ 434,706.41).
