Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2005 a collector was able to acquire the work Saint John the Baptist, seated, pointing to a lamb by Alonso Cano for USD 9,600.00 (€ 7,356.89). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master and 19th Century Drawings at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alonso Cano achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Santa Maria Maddalena dei Pazzi in December 2021 with an auction result of GBP 126,000.00 (€ 150,291.57).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Januar 2005 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Saint John the Baptist, seated, pointing to a lamb von Alonso Cano für USD 9.600,00 (€ 7.356,89) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Drawings bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alonso Cano erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Santa Maria Maddalena dei Pazzi im Dezember 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 126.000,00 (€ 150.291,57).
