This artwork by Alice Neel achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November 2021. In the 20th Century Evening Sale auction, the work Light sold for USD 2,310,000.00 (€ 2,046,602.29) - well above the upper estimate of USD 1,200,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Alice Neel; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Dr. Finger’S Waiting Room sold at auction in May 2021 with the realized price of USD 3,030,000.00 (€ 2,484,828.60).
