Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Daniel Smith, seated three-quarter-length, in a black suit and white shirt by Alfred Smith was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2003. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 25.00 – 200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 58.75 (€ 59.18) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alfred Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work French After The Rain in April 2010 with an auction result of USD 92,500.00 (€ 69,538.42).
