Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Barges tacking down the estuary by Alfred Priest was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 625.00 (€ 875.16) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alfred Priest - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sea piece, which sold at auction in May 2001 for GBP 1,527.50 (€ 2,560.89).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Barges tacking down the estuary von Alfred Priest kam im November 2007 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 600,00 – 800,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 625,00 (€ 875,16) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Alfred Priest mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sea piece beobachtet, die im Mai 2001 für GBP 1.527,50 (€ 2.560,89) versteigert wurde.
