Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Oriental Poppy by Alfred Frederick William Hayward was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in September this year. The price achieved of GBP 1,664.00 (€ 1,664.00) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alfred Frederick William Hayward - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Christmas roses, which sold at auction in May 2001 for GBP 2,115.00 (€ 3,545.85).
