Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of an officer from the Artist's Rifles by Alfred Egerton Cooper was sold in the 20th Century British Art auction at Christies in London in March 2004. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 537.75 (€ 804.96) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alfred Egerton Cooper achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The King's Capital: From Westminster to St Paul's Cathedral, London in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 36,998.33).
