Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2000 Christies in Los Angeles held the auction 20th Century Art, including the Billy Wilder Collection, which included the work Alone by Alexis Smith. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 5,287.50 (€ 5,539.55) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alexis Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Iron Sorrows, which sold at auction in November 2010 for USD 27,500.00 (€ 21,095.43).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2000 führte Christies in Los Angeles die Auktion 20th Century Art, including the Billy Wilder Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Alone von Alexis Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 5.287,50 (€ 5.539,55) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Alexis Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Iron Sorrows beobachtet, die im November 2010 für USD 27.500,00 (€ 21.095,43) versteigert wurde.
