The work Portrait of James Francis Edward Stuart, the Old Pretender (1688-1766), half-length, in armour, with the sash of the Order of the Garter and the medal of the Order of the Thistle by Alexis-Simon Belle was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2011. It achieved a price of GBP 85,250.00 (€ 97,837.13), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 71%. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Alexis-Simon Belle; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait du prince Jacques François Edward Stuart sold at auction in November last year with the realized price of EUR 104,960.00.

Die Arbeit Portrait of James Francis Edward Stuart, the Old Pretender (1688-1766), half-length, in armour, with the sash of the Order of the Garter and the medal of the Order of the Thistle von Alexis-Simon Belle kam im Juli 2011 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 85.250,00 (€ 97.837,13) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 71%. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Alexis-Simon Belle; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Portrait du prince Jacques François Edward Stuart im November letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 104.960,00.
