Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A fashionably dressed woman, seen from behind (i); and A young woman wearing a large and elaborate hat, seated on a chair (ii) by Alexandre Moitte was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 375.00 (€ 327.40). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alexandre Moitte achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Courtship; and Family life in April 2002 with an auction result of GBP 4,700.00 (€ 7,604.48).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A fashionably dressed woman, seen from behind (i); and A young woman wearing a large and elaborate hat, seated on a chair (ii) von Alexandre Moitte im Januar 2019 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 375,00 (€ 327,40) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alexandre Moitte erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Courtship; and Family life im April 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.700,00 (€ 7.604,48).
