This price was achieved in the auction Revolution at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 15,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Alexandre-Évariste Fragonard; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait Of Madame Recamier (1777–1849), Seated In A Classical Interior sold at auction in October 2011 with the realized price of GBP 54,050.00 (€ 62,552.60).
