Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Russian Pictures, which included the work The Great Flood of 1824 by Alexander Nikolaevich Benois. The price achieved of GBP 11,340.00 (€ 12,667.79) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alexander Nikolaevich Benois achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Promenade of Empress Elizabeth in April 2006 with an auction result of USD 441,600.00 (€ 349,809.89).
