Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Alexander Nikolaevich Benois achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in November 2021. In the Russian Pictures auction, the work Costume Designs for Harlequin and Columbine from The Nutcracker (two works) sold for GBP 5,040.00 (€ 5,917.43) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alexander Nikolaevich Benois achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Promenade of Empress Elizabeth in April 2006 with an auction result of USD 441,600.00 (€ 349,809.89).
