Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Joanna of Austria (1547-1578), bust length, facing right by Alessandro Allori was sold in the Master Paintings & Sculpture Part I auction at Sothebys in New York in January last year. The price achieved of USD 50,400.00 (€ 44,951.84) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alessandro Allori achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Holy Family With The Infant Saint John The Baptist in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 557,600.00 (€ 828,164.71).

Die Arbeit Portrait of Joanna of Austria (1547-1578), bust length, facing right von Alessandro Allori wurde im Januar letzten Jahres in der Auktion Master Paintings & Sculpture Part I bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 50.400,00 (€ 44.951,84) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alessandro Allori erzielen.
