Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2001 Christies in Sydney held the auction AUSTRALIAN AND INTERNATIONAL PAINTINGS, which included the work Gums at McDonnell Ranges by Albert Namatjira. The price achieved of AUD 10,575.00 (€ 6,139.08) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 9,000.00 – 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by Albert Namatjira have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mt Sonder, MacDonnell Ranges in April this year with an auction result of AUD 92,250.00 (€ 55,291.51).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August 2001 führte Christies in Sydney die Auktion AUSTRALIAN AND INTERNATIONAL PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Gums at McDonnell Ranges von Albert Namatjira zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 10.575,00 (€ 6.139,08) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 9.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Albert Namatjira auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Mt Sonder, MacDonnell Ranges im April diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 92.250,00 (€ 55.291,51).
