In October 2021 Christies in London held the auction Modern British and Irish Art Day Sale, which included the work Black over Blue, with Red by Alastair Morton. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,770.95), 50% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alastair Morton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Opus 9 Red and Blue Stripes 1937, which sold at auction in March 2018 for GBP 59,375.00 (€ 67,601.71).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2021 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern British and Irish Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Black over Blue, with Red von Alastair Morton zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 15.000,00 (€ 17.770,95) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Alastair Morton mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Opus 9 Red and Blue Stripes 1937 beobachtet, die im März 2018 für GBP 59.375,00 (€ 67.601,71) versteigert wurde.
