When the work Two Women Arranging Flowers in The Interior by Adrien-Jean Le Mayeur De Merprès was auctioned at Bonhams in Hong Kong in April 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 2,800,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at HKD 14,052,500.00 (€ 1,504,540.32). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Adrien-Jean Le Mayeur De Merprès - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Women Around the Lotus Pond, which sold at auction in May 2016 for HKD 30,360,000.00 (€ 3,509,054.33).
Kunstwerk zum Fünffachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Two Women Arranging Flowers in The Interior von Adrien-Jean Le Mayeur De Merprès im April 2021 bei Bonhams in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 2.800.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 14.052.500,00 (€ 1.504.540,32) mehr als fünfmal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Adrien-Jean Le Mayeur De Merprès mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Women Around the Lotus Pond beobachtet, die im Mai 2016 für HKD 30.360.000,00 (€ 3.509.054,33) versteigert wurde.
