In July 2002 Christies in London held the auction OLD MASTER PICTURES, which included the work A Rhenish river landscape with figures by a boat by Adriaen van Diest. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,700.00 (€ 7,496.68), 34% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Adriaen van Diest - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An Italianate rocky landscape with a drover and cattle before a stream, goats on a rocky outcrop beyond, which sold at auction in February 2008 for GBP 13,700.00 (€ 17,919.06).
