Auction result well in line with expectations

In May 2010 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work A French man-o'war heaving-to at sea by Adriaen van Diest. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,322.74) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Adriaen van Diest - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An Italianate rocky landscape with a drover and cattle before a stream, goats on a rocky outcrop beyond, which sold at auction in February 2008 for GBP 13,700.00 (€ 17,919.06).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Im Mai 2010 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A French man-o'war heaving-to at sea von Adriaen van Diest zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 6.250,00 (€ 7.322,74) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Adriaen van Diest mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit An Italianate rocky landscape with a drover and cattle before a stream, goats on a rocky outcrop beyond beobachtet, die im Februar 2008 für GBP 13.700,00 (€ 17.919,06) versteigert wurde.
