In September last year Phillips in an online auction held the auction Color & Scale: The Estate of Martha Hummer Bradley, which included the work Camera Obscura Image of La Giraldilla de la Habana in Room with Broken Wall by Abelardo Morell. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,788.00 (€ 4,894.20), 60% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Abelardo Morell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Detail of Book Damaged by Water, 2001 in October 2016 with an auction result of USD 30,000.00 (€ 27,367.27).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 60 % übertroffen
Im September letzten Jahres führte Phillips in einer Online-Auktion die Auktion Color & Scale: The Estate of Martha Hummer Bradley durch, in der auch die Arbeit Camera Obscura Image of La Giraldilla de la Habana in Room with Broken Wall von Abelardo Morell zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 4.788,00 (€ 4.894,20) und damit 60% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Abelardo Morell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Detail of Book Damaged by Water, 2001 im Oktober 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 30.000,00 (€ 27.367,27).
