Artist statement

My themes dont´t come out of nowhere.

I draw upon my obsevations in the interperpersonal an social realm, upon whta I see, upon what touches me emotionally.

Working with images means for me that I think in different dimensions. In associations. So I often surprise myself when unanticipates connections appear.

As a consequence, new insights, new tasks, new perspectives keep coming up. And they questions what seemend to reliable insights.

New doors keep opening, new challenges come up. As Joan Didion says „Ich schreibe (arbeite bildnerische), um herauszufinden, was ich denke, was ich anschaue, was ich sehe und was das bedeutet.“ (I write (create images) in order do find out what that I think, what I look at, what I see and what that means.)

I have devoted myself for some time to the concept of „Heimat“, with questions of what sense there is in belonging, in being located or rooted. I am exploring connections, imprints of familiy, geography, culture.

The questions behind that is how much prensence there is in the past.

As I like to work on a theme in different artistic media, I have also turned to the theme of home in three-dimesional works. These objects range from small scale to large-scale installations.
