The artists selected their own works for the exhibition: Big names in contemporary art show in Edvard Munch. In Dialogue how Munch's works have influenced them. From February 18 to June 19, 2022, the result of the selection can be seen at the ALBERTINA in Vienna. In addition to some 60 works by Munch, the exhibits include works by Georg Baselitz, Miriam Cahn, Peter Doig, Marlene Dumas, Tracy Emin and Jasper Johns. Complementary works by the already deceased Andy Warhol can also be found in the exhibition rooms.

Edvard Munch (1863-1944), in addition to his melancholic view of the world, is particularly known for his experiments in painting and printing. As extensive as his body of work was, as different are the approaches to him taken by the artists exhibited here. Baselitz, for example, cites Munch's forest landscapes, Dumas continues his investigation of hushed-up themes such as death and mourning, and Emin processes traumatic life experiences in multimedia artworks, as Munch did in his paintings. The unique exhibition in Vienna clearly shows how deeply Munch's work is rooted in art. The appreciation of the Norwegian painter will not diminish in the future, as evidenced by the grand reopening of the Munch Museet in Oslo last year.Art.Salon

London, Tate Britain

It was one of the most moving decades in the history of the United Kingdom: the 1980s, characterized by strikes, protests and AIDS. Photographers documented this period and in some cases became political activists themselves through their images. The exhibition The 80s: Photographing Britain opens on November 21 at the Tate Britain in London.

Guido Klumpe

It is in the context of functional architecture in urban spaces that Guido Klumpe finds the motifs that he stages with his camera as the poetry of the profane. His picturesque images unfold an opulent effect with a reduced formal language, showing us the beauty of the moment in the flow of everyday life.
