Whether in Santiago de Chile, New York City or Berlin, artist Susanna Storch finds stories worth telling around the world. She photographs facades of public and private buildings, which serve as models for her figurative, realistic paintings. Facades are permeable boundaries, and it is precisely this complexity that interests Storch. Windows in particular are one of the artist's main motifs. Sometimes the outside world is reflected in them, so that the interiors remain hidden, sometimes they provide insights into the private lives of people, some of whom can only be glimpsed. The Kunstverein Heinsberg is presenting a selection of Storch's paintings worth seeing in Urban Realitites until November 5.

Susanna Storch, who is participating in the Art.Salon artist program, lives and works as a freelance artist in Mainz. She has traveled to various cities in Europe, North and South America for her facade series. Her works were represented in numerous art fairs in Cologne, Karlsruhe, Berlin and Helsinki, among others. Gallery exhibitions took place in Venice, London, Krakow and New Orleans.Art.Salon

London, Tate Britain

It was one of the most moving decades in the history of the United Kingdom: the 1980s, characterized by strikes, protests and AIDS. Photographers documented this period and in some cases became political activists themselves through their images. The exhibition The 80s: Photographing Britain opens on November 21 at the Tate Britain in London.
