Observations and experiences form the abstract paintings of Katja Grandpierre. In often large-format works, the Wiesbaden-based artist examines complex structures of modern societies that often appear incomprehensible and confusing. Grandpierre's paintings reproduce these contradictory constructions with line and color and invite the viewer to take a closer look: new connections become apparent and suggest possible interpretations. The artist, who is taking part in the Art.Salon artist program, is showing new works in the exhibition Beyond the Obvious. Abstract Painting, the artist is showing new works from her IMPLICATIONS series. The show, which also features works by abstract painter Anja Sieber, is being organized by Galerie Wolfstædter in Frankfurt am Main. The vernissage will take place there on May 3 at 6 p.m., and the exhibition will run until July 27.

Katja Grandpierre has already exhibited in numerous national and international shows, including in Belgium, Switzerland and the USA. She creates her unmistakable compositions in acrylic, oil or acrylic spray paint on canvas. In addition to painting, Grandpierre also works in the medium of installation, such as the project Wasserstände (2022), in which she deals with the extreme floods in Germany in 2021.Art.Salon

London, Tate Britain

It was one of the most moving decades in the history of the United Kingdom: the 1980s, characterized by strikes, protests and AIDS. Photographers documented this period and in some cases became political activists themselves through their images. The exhibition The 80s: Photographing Britain opens on November 21 at the Tate Britain in London.

Guido Klumpe

It is in the context of functional architecture in urban spaces that Guido Klumpe finds the motifs that he stages with his camera as the poetry of the profane. His picturesque images unfold an opulent effect with a reduced formal language, showing us the beauty of the moment in the flow of everyday life.
