Observations and experiences form the abstract paintings of Katja Grandpierre. In often large-format works, the Wiesbaden-based artist examines complex structures of modern societies that often appear incomprehensible and confusing. Grandpierre's paintings reproduce these contradictory constructions with line and color and invite the viewer to take a closer look: new connections become apparent and suggest possible interpretations. The artist, who is taking part in the Art.Salon artist program, is showing new works in the exhibition Beyond the Obvious. Abstract Painting, the artist is showing new works from her IMPLICATIONS series. The show, which also features works by abstract painter Anja Sieber, is being organized by Galerie Wolfstædter in Frankfurt am Main. The vernissage will take place there on May 3 at 6 p.m., and the exhibition will run until July 27.
Katja Grandpierre has already exhibited in numerous national and international shows, including in Belgium, Switzerland and the USA. She creates her unmistakable compositions in acrylic, oil or acrylic spray paint on canvas. In addition to painting, Grandpierre also works in the medium of installation, such as the project Wasserstände (2022), in which she deals with the extreme floods in Germany in 2021.
