The National Art Centre Tokyo is offering an unusual panoramic exhibition: from June 29 to September 26, it is showing European modern art in Museum Ludwig, Cologne − History of a Collection with Civic Commitments. The 152 exhibits come from the collection of the Museum Ludwig in Cologne and belong to a wide variety of art movements such as Expressionism, New Objectivity, Cubism, Surrealism, the Russian Avant-garde and Pop Art. In addition, numerous photographs from the collection provide social insight into the period in which the artworks were created.

The Museum Ludwig has been in existence since 1976, when it was founded as a result of Josef Haubrich's Expressionist collection and a donation from Peter and Irene Ludwig: the couple donated some 350 works of art to the city of Cologne. In the following years, the museum expanded through donations and purchases, mostly from collectors in the region. Since then, it has been internationally renowned for its important art collection.Art.Salon

Till Schermer

Is our personality just an illusion? Till Schermer's paintings open up a new perspective on the fragmented human psyche. In intense, sometimes disturbing images, the artist presents the protagonists of our mental society - perhaps the start of an adventure for one's own mind.
