When the work A Literary Gathering by Zhou Yong was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2016, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 18,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at USD 93,750.00 (€ 83,422.32). This high result makes A Literary Gathering the most expensive artwork by Zhou Yong that we have observed at auctions so far.
