This price was achieved in the auction Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 20,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Yan Xishan; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Calligraphy sold at auction in May 2013 with the realized price of HKD 200,000.00 (€ 19,833.69).
