Despite a disappointment, a good price for Xavier van Ryser
When the work Still Life of Flowers On A Ledge by Xavier van Ryser was auctioned at Christies in London in January 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 375.00 (€ 502.70). Despite this disappointing result, Still Life of Flowers On A Ledge is the most expensive artwork by Xavier van Ryser that we have observed at auction so far.
