In November 2020 Bonhams in Hong Kong held the auction The Reverend Richard Fabian Collection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy II, which included the work Sunset in the autumn mountains, 1909 by Wu Shixian. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 63,750 (€ 6,883), 28% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wu Shixian - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work , which sold at auction in October 2009 for HKD 237,500 (€ 20,764).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 28% übertroffen
Im November 2020 führte Bonhams in Hong Kong die Auktion The Reverend Richard Fabian Collection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sunset in the autumn mountains, 1909 von Wu Shixian zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 63.750 (€ 6.883) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Wu Shixian mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit beobachtet, die im Oktober 2009 für HKD 237.500 (€ 20.764) versteigert wurde.
