Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Mist and Rain Among Streams and Mountains, 1901 by Wu Shixian was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in March this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000 – 3,000, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,658 (€ 1,494). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wu Shixian achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work in October 2009 with an auction result of HKD 237,500 (€ 20,764).
