Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work View of a bay by Winckworth Allan Gay was auctioned at Christies in New York in June 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 625.00 (€ 547.72). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Winckworth Allan Gay achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Glades, Cohasset in March 2004 with an auction result of USD 8,962.50 (€ 7,291.33).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit View of a bay von Winckworth Allan Gay im Juni 2017 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 625,00 (€ 547,72) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Winckworth Allan Gay erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Glades, Cohasset im März 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 8.962,50 (€ 7.291,33).
