Auction result misses estimated price range

In May 2002 a collector was able to acquire the work A Pair of Portraits: Dr. Huggerford and Elizabeth Huggerford by William Williams for USD 956.00 (€ 1,023.66). This price was achieved in the auction Important American Furniture, Silver, Prints and Folk Art at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Williams achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Iron bridge at Colebrookdale in December last year with an auction result of GBP 45,660.00 (€ 51,545.69).

Im Mai 2002 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit A Pair of Portraits: Dr. Huggerford and Elizabeth Huggerford von William Williams für USD 956,00 (€ 1.023,66) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Important American Furniture, Silver, Prints and Folk Art bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Williams erzielen.
