Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by William Westall could be acquired at Christies in London in December 2000 for an unexpectedly low price. In the DECORATIVE, SPORTING AND TOPGRAPHICAL PRINTS auction, the work Views on the Thames; Chiswick 1823, Between Barnes and Chiswick 1823, Chiswick 1823, Hammersmith 1823 (Abbey Scenery No. 434, pls. 26,33,34,35) changed hands for GBP 235.00 (€ 374.35) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 250.00 – 350.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Westall achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Entrance of The Great Cave Temple of Elephanta, Near Bombay in July 2006 with an auction result of GBP 3,360.00 (€ 4,918.65).
In der Auktion DECORATIVE, SPORTING AND TOPGRAPHICAL PRINTS wechselte die Arbeit Views on the Thames; Chiswick 1823, Between Barnes and Chiswick 1823, Chiswick 1823, Hammersmith 1823 (Abbey Scenery No. 434, pls.
