Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work The head of Dovedale, Derbyshire by William Westall was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2001. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 1,292.50 (€ 2,056.77). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Westall - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Entrance of The Great Cave Temple of Elephanta, Near Bombay, which sold at auction in July 2006 for GBP 3,360.00 (€ 4,918.65).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit The head of Dovedale, Derbyshire von William Westall kam im November 2001 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 1.200,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 1.292,50 (€ 2.056,77) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von William Westall mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Entrance of The Great Cave Temple of Elephanta, Near Bombay beobachtet, die im Juli 2006 für GBP 3.360,00 (€ 4.918,65) versteigert wurde.
